Britain’s Got Talent Champions winner ‘to get £100,000 prize money’

The Britain’s Got Talent’s Champions winner will win a prize of £100,000, it’s been reported.

The new series is currently being filmed in London, seeing acts from the past 13 years of BGT return to compete against one another.

They’ll also go head to head with acts from other Got Talent series across the world in order to be crowned ultimate champion.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the winner will get a £100,000 prize.

The newspaper says that Simon doubled the original amount after it was first announced as £50,000 by Ant and Dec during filming.

Simon is quoted as reacting: “Did you just say fifty grand? That’s it?”

Ant is said to have replied: “That’s it. Unless you want to double it. Do you want to double it?”

“Yes, I will. It’s a hundred grand everybody,” Simon then announced.

The BGT prize money for the main series has changed a number of times since the first series, starting out at £100,000.

It was then increased in 2012 to a whopping £500,000, won by dog duo Ashleigh and Pudsey, before being reduced to £250,000 ever since.

Together with the cash, the BGT prize includes a spot performing at the Royal Variety Show in front of the British Royal Family.

The upcoming champions series, sponsored by Marks and Spencer, will air on ITV later this year although an exact start date has yet to be confirmed.

Acts rumoured to be competing include dancing storm-troopers Boogie Storm, Series 1 champ Paul Potts and comedians Daliso Chaponda, Jack Carroll and Lost Voice Guy.

More contestants are tipped to be singer Connie Talbot, who first appeared on BGT’s first series when she was 6, Stavros Flatley, 2014 winners Collabro, sword-swallower Alex Magala and dance act Merseygirls.

Also rumoured are 2008 winner George Sampson, 2011 champion Jai McDowall, dance duo Twist and Pulse and singing pair Bars and Melody.
