Boogie Storm set to return for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions spin-off

Dancing stormtroopers to get another shot after earning Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer

Star Wars-themed dance act Boogie Storm are the latest former Britain’s Got Talent hopefuls linked to its upcoming Champions spin-off.

The six-strong group competed on BGT’s tenth series in 2016, dressed as stormtroopers from the iconic movie franchise.

While the costumes made them instantly memorable, their dance moves were just as slick – convincing show boss Simon Cowell to hit the Golden Buzzer.

“I literally said, if we can find stormtroopers who can dance, this show is gonna go to a different league. My dream has come true!” he said at the time.

“No surprise that the real life Darth Vader voted for his troops,” smirked co-judge David Walliams.

Boogie Storm eventually finished in third place in the grand final, and have remained one of Simon’s favourite acts ever since.

Now the Daily Star reports that they will return for new spin-off series Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.

“David joked that Simon is in fact Darth Vader and that is why he loves the stormtroopers,” the newspaper’s source commented.

The Champions is an ‘all-stars’ version of the ITV variety contest, involving past contestants returning for another shot at glory.

However, they’ll also have to compete against successful acts from other versions of Got Talent around the world.

The eventual winner will earn the ‘champion of champions’ title (and likely a huge cash prize).

Bosses confirmed singing superstar Susan Boyle as one of the contestants during BGT’s latest regular series earlier this month.

Other BGT fan favourites reportedly taking part include Stavros Flatley, Collabro and Ashleigh Butler with new dog sidekick Sully.

Simon, David and fellow panellists Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon are due to return for The Champions, alongside presenters Ant and Dec.

Filming will begin at Wembley Arena in July, before it hits our screens on ITV later this year.
