Anton Du Beke and Ruth Langsford’s Paso has Strictly viewers and judges in hysterics

Ruth Langsford and Anton du Beke’s Paso Doble on Strictly Come Dancing tonight won rave reviews.

Even if it was for all the wrong reasons…

Tonight Strictly was back to its usual glitz and glam self following last week’s traditional Halloween spectacular.

Once again deciding who was on top form this evening were judges Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, who scored the ten remaining celebrity couples.

Ruth and pro partner Anton Du Beke danced the Paso Doble to The Shady Dame From Seville by Julie Andrews and it was… quite something.

Bruno reacted: “Uh… it ended up with murder on the dancefloor… what more do you want from Strictly Come Dancing?!”

Craig said: “This number is actually from a film and it’s a drag act and that’s essentially what we got tonight.

“It’s entertainment versus technique. I think you’re being smart, Anton, by choosing the entertainment route because at least the people at home will vote but I can’t possibly…”

Anton replied: “I can’t tell you how hurt I am and surprised by the criticism.”

Darcey then encouraged Ruth: “Don’t give up on the content or technique, you’re going somewhere.”

And Shirley concluded: “You represent absolute joy. I’m sure there’s not a household in England that didn’t enjoy what you just did.”

After the performance, host Claudia Winkleman told Anton and Ruth: “I think that was the best thing I’ve ever seen.”

When it came to the scores, the judges awarded the couple a total of 22 marks.

Will it be enough to avoid Sunday’s bottom two dance off?
