A synopsis of the latest episode shares: “Everyone at Skeldale House is pushed to think about what matters to them most when the radio reports that Britain is standing on the brink of war. As everyone processes the news, James discovers a case of TB at Heston Grange. Richard begs him not to report it to the MAG or the farm will be shut down and he could lose his livelihood.
“James tries to buy him some time, but when Richard takes matters into his own hands, James has to decide whether to tell the MAG about what’s happened or risk losing his job — and his status as a vet in the process, which protects him from being drafted into the army. Mrs Hall is puzzled to discover a dog named Dash abandoned on the doorstep of Skeldale House.
“When Mrs Hall realises that he’s been left following the government’s recommendation that the public destroy their pets in the event of war, she’s horrified. Despite Siegfried’s warning that Mrs Hall doesn’t become too attached, she develops a close bond with Dash, and Siegfried has to decide what’s best for the animal in difficult circumstances.
“Tristan tries to grab life with both hands after an inspiring visit to Mrs Pumphrey, but ultimately realises that he’s going about it all the wrong way with the help of Florence Pandhi.”
