Alexandra Burke cancels comeback music tour for ‘scheduling issues’

Alexandra Burke has cancelled her upcoming comeback music tour for ‘scheduling issues’.

Tickets for dates across the UK from London to Glasgow had gone on sale back in January.

Alex, who won The X Factor back in 2008, was due to tour in September with her ‘The Truth Is’ album. Her first UK headline tour since 2010, ‘The Truth Is’ was to see Alexandra take her voice on the road for a 13 date tour around the country.

However the tour – which followed the singer’s recent triumphant journey as finalist on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing – has now been cancelled.

Alex tweeted: “I’ve just got back to the UK after a few days away. I’m really sorry to announce that sadly I have had to cancel The Truth Is tour in September. The timing just wasn’t right. I’m really sorry to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this decision. I love performing more than anything and can’t wait to to reschedule more live shows in the future.

“There will be more news coming from me soon. Thank you to you all for your support and understanding.”

2018 year marks 10 years since Alexandra won the fifth series of The X Factor, performing alongside Beyoncé in a live final watched by over 10 million viewers.

Her winner’s song – a cover of the late Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ – went on to sell over 100,000 copies in a day and over a million within a month.

A debut number 1 album followed before Alexandra took to the West End stage, starring as Rachel Marron in the highly acclaimed musical, The Bodyguard.

Her comeback album The Truth Is made a top 20 debut earlier in the year.

Speaking about the record in March, Alexandra revealed: “It’s more about situations I’ve been through.

“I’ve always been scared to talk about break ups, but there are songs on the album where I talk about going through that publicly. The album shows that if you go through a tough situation, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I haven’t found mine yet, but I’m searching for it.”
