The Tournament new series start date revealed for Alex Scott game show on BBC One

When is The Tournament on and what's it about?

Alex Scott is back to host a new series of game show The Tournament on BBC One.

The new series will begin to TV from Monday, 19 September at 4:30PM and continue weekdays.

The Tournament brings all the drama and tension of the sporting arena to BBC Daytime as eight contestants compete in a series of fast-paced quiz battles in an attempt to eliminate their opponents from the day’s game and walk away with a cash prize.

Alex Scott said: “To be hosting this new BBC quiz show is exciting and I can’t wait to get started.

“The Tournament promises all the drama and tension of a penalty shootout; it’s a show where favourites can be knocked out of the competition and underdogs can come back from the brink of defeat to claim victory.

“I’m sure it’ll be a firm favourite with quiz fans and new viewers alike.”

Speaking about hosting her first game show, Alex shared: “It was a new experience for me, but I absolutely loved it. We had a brilliant team, energy, and contestants. I just love spending time with people and learning about their lives, so this show was perfect because I was able to interact with all the contestants and do just that!

“There were so many different characters and personalities – everyone had such different stories to tell.

“At the end of the day, although hosting my debut quiz show was such a special moment for me, ultimately, the show is all about the contestants, and going on the journey with them. What’s great is how the show was totally new ground for me – but equally new for those that participated. So, we ended up going on a new journey together.”

The Tournament will air on BBC One weekdays at 4:30PM from 19 September.
