X Factor’s Scarlett Lee speaks out after family home is ‘burned to the ground’

X Factor’s Scarlett Lee has thanked fans for their support after a fire at her home.

The singer is one of twelve acts currently competing in the live shows of this year’s series.

But worrying about song choices has taken a back seat after a “terrifying” fire at her family’s home in Surrey.

A suspected electrical fire on Monday left Scarlett’s relatives scrambling for safety and their home “burned to the ground”.

In a lengthy post to social media today (Saturday), Scarlett wrote: “I went to hospital had to have a procedure on my eye as burning ember was still in my eye. It’s getting better slowly but surely. I’m just glad my family are alive and spare.

“I’ve never been through something so scary in my life. X Factor is the dream in my life that’s come true and I cant believe it’s happened just as I’m going through this amazing journey.”

She went on to say thank you to those working on The X Factor, including mentor Simon Cowell and vocal coach Annabel: “I wouldn’t of been able to of got through this without my X Factor family. They have stood by me all the way only to help me and my family and make sure I only do what I can handle. ”

Scarlett went on to reassure everyone she will be singing tonight, adding: “I have a public to please a family & a mentor to do proud!

“No matter the storms it will be sunshine again! Without faith I don’t know how many of us would be here today.”

Scarlett sailed through Sunday night’s latest X Factor results show after singing a cover of Elvis’ hit Always On My Mind.

She had originally auditioned for the show last year but was turned away at the Six Chair Challenge.

Back for 2018, Scarlett previously revealed her big ambitions for a huge career in music.

She explained: “I hope that I can be big enough to play Madison Square Garden. Wembley Arena will always hold a place in my heart because it was the first time I ever performed in front of thousands, but I think you should always want bigger things. When you achieve something that’s big for you, you must aim for something bigger and keep going.”

The X Factor 2018 returns this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
