X Factor contestant Holly Tandy reveals backstage tension

X Factor 2017 hopeful Holly Tandy has revealed things are getting ‘tense’ as the competition heats up.

Sunday night saw the six chair challenge begin with Sharon Osbourne and the Girls category.

There were some surprise choices from Sharon but tough decisions had to be made in the always competitive category.

Things ended with a three way sing off for the final seats before the six contestants through to the judges’ houses stage were confirmed.

Alongside 16-year-old singer Holly, those through to Sharon’s judges’ houses are 22-year-old singer Alisah Bonaobra, 22-year-old musician Deanna Mussington, 20-year-old mum Georgina Panton, , 16-year-old student Rai-Elle and 20 year-old singer-songwriter and warehouse assistant Grace Davies.

With now just one stage before the live finals, Holly says the tension between the contestants is mounting.

“It’s not necessarily competitive backstage, but it’s tense,” she explained. “I think everybody’s rooting for each other, but we’re all each other’s competition at the end of the day.”

Holly added: “It’s difficult to kind of draw that line, to say, you know, we’re great mates and I’m really rooting for you, but sorry – you cannot have any of my Manuka honey.”

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Holly went on to say she feels she has a point to prove with her age.

The teenager was just 15 when she auditioned and performed at bootcamp on her 16th birthday.

“I want to prove that lowering the age limit was the right decision for X Factor,” Holly told the tabloid.

The X Factor continues on ITV Saturday 14st October at 8:15pm and Sunday 15nd October at 7pm.
