The first two contestants have been eliminated in tonight’s X Factor 2018 results.
This weekend saw a double elimination after all sixteen of the finalists performed for the first time.
The theme for the opening weekend was ‘This Is Me’ as each act sang a song they felt best represented themselves as artists.
All the judges gave their opinions in Saturday’s show before lines opened for viewers to vote for their favourite.
Tonight saw the first results show as two acts went home: Olatunji Yearwood and Armstrong Martins became the first to be eliminated from the show.
In the live results live show, host Dermot O’Leary first announced the 13 safe acts before confirming the bottom three in the public vote.
Armstrong Martins, Janice Robinson, and Olatunji Yearwood were the unlucky trio who found themselves in danger.
Dermot then revealed the one act with the fewest overall votes who would be heading home immediately. This was Olatunji who was therefore eliminated from X Factor tonight.
Armstrong and Janice therefore went forward to the sing-off where they performed again for the judges.
In the sing-off, Janice performed The Climb while Armstrong performed True Colors.
It was then over to the judges to make their decision on who should stay and who should go home.
Unsurprisingly, Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson backed their own acts and sent home Armstrong and Janice respectively.
Robbie Williams also sent home Armstrong leaving Simon Cowell with the casting vote, deciding to send home Armstrong.
As a result, with three votes to one, Armstrong was eliminated and Janice continued in the competition.
Following the eliminations a total of 14 acts now remain in the competition.
In the Boys category are Anthony Russell, Brendan Murray and Dalton Andre Harris. The Overs are made up of Danny Tetley, Giovanni Spano and Janice Robinson.
The Girls are Bella Penfold, Molly Scott, Scarlett Lee, and Shan Ako. Finally, the Groups are duo Acacia and Aaliyah, LMA Choir, Misunderstood and boy band United Vibe.
Elsewhere in tonight’s show, there were guest performances from reigning X Factor winners Rak-Su singing I Want You To Freak and The Greatest Showman’s Keala Settle.
The X Factor 2018 continues next Saturday, October 27, at 8:35PM on ITV and continues with the second results show at 8PM on the Sunday, October 28.
