Why Anne Hegerty was almost suspended from The Chase

The Chase star Anne Hegerty has revealed how she was almost suspended from the show.

One of five Chasers on the popular ITV game show, Anne has told how her Twitter talk has got her into trouble.

Appearing on Lorraine today (Wednesday, April 10), Anne explained how she was told off by channel bosses after hitting back at a troll.

“I’ve been known to get in trouble for doing that [answering back on Twitter],” Anne recalled. “I tweeted a tweet last month, it got 25,000 likes, before ITV ordered me to take it down and threatened me with suspension.

“So I took it down.”

Anne added: “Sometimes you don’t always know what’s appropriate or what people will find appropriate or not.

“One is not actually trying to upset the source of one’s bread and butter.”

It’s understood the Tweet in question saw Anne brand a user a “sad c***” after they attacked Anne’s fellow I’m A Celebrity star Emily Atack.

After he claimed Emily was “just not pretty enough” for her latest TV role, Anne interjected: “What a sad c*** you are, Steve.”

The Chase continues weekdays at 5PM on ITV.
