Jeremy Clarkson’s revived version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has proved a ratings hit.

Over 5 million viewers tuned in to the first episode last Saturday night before new episodes aired each evening at 9PM over the past week.

Numbers stayed between the 4 and 5 million mark with 4.7 million watching last night’s final episode. The programme peaked with 5.4 million viewers.

It was the second most watched of the seven shows and up 400,000 on Thursday night’s numbers.

Over the course of the week, the special series averaged 4.6 million viewers a night in peak audience figures.

Friday’s show bettered everything on BBC One and was only behind the soaps on ITV.

Corrie’s two episodes had 6.5 and 6.1 million viewers for their latest instalment while Emmerdale had 5.6 million.

Over on BBC One, EastEnders had 4.5 million watching while game show The Button dropped to just 1.3 million viewers.

Have I Got News for You interested 3.1 million but Home From Home averaged just 1.5 million afterwards. Later on, The Graham Norton Show put in a strong 2.4 million in its late night slot.

Channel 4 averaged a strong 2.7 million in the 9PM hour with Gogglebox. 1.2 million stayed for Friday Night Dinner at 10PM.
