Wagner hopes to return to The X Factor for ‘All Star’ series

Wagner has put himself forward for a return to The X Factor.

A potential X Factor All Stars series is said to be in the works for this year in place of the usual series.

Show boss Simon Cowell announced the plans in February, with a series featuring a line up of past contestants.

Simon said at the time “I’ve had a meeting with ITV, I’ve told them what I think we’d like to do with X Factor because we’ve been waiting to have this opportunity.”

Now Wagner says he’s up for a return and reckons he could boost viewing figures.

The star of the 2010 series – which featured the likes of One Direction – thinks The X Factor could do with more fun.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I think X Factor could do with some more interesting acts, not serious people who sing like they are suffering or dying.

“People at home watch and go ‘That’s boring.’ I make people smile wherever I go.”

Wagner, who despite not coming close to winning has become one of the show’s most iconic acts, added: “I’ll bring the fun. When I’m on stage I love it. I’m 63 but I feel really young.”

As yet no names have been confirmed for The X Factor’s 2019 series, including judges.

But rumour has it that Simon is keen to get a number of winners back including both Leona Lewis and Shayne Ward.

Also said to be in talks include the likes of Chico, Same Difference, Jedward and Honey G.

However a number of former X Factor contestants have ruled themselves out of the show.

They include Rylan Clark-Neal, who has instead signed up to co-host Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two.

Meanwhile, the judging panel is reported to also feature a line up of ‘all star judges’ from past series after both Ayda and Robbie Williams quit.

The X Factor typically airs from September on ITV but scheduling for this year has not been announced.
