Vinnie Jones wants to judge Britain’s Got Talent after X Factor Celebrity stint

Footballer-turned-actor reckons ITV shows' boss Simon Cowell has "gone soft"

The X Factor: Celebrity’s Vinnie Jones wants to go from contestant to judge by joining the Britain’s Got Talent panel.

Vinnie made his X Factor debut on Saturday’s first live show, having missed the auditions due to the tragic passing of his wife.

He earned praise for his first performance, a roof-raising rendition of ‘Everybody Needs Somebody to Love’.

But while the former footballer will bag a Syco recording contract if he wins the series, he’s eyeing up another role in Simon Cowell’s empire.

Vinnie recently told the Daily Star that he’d love a judging role on Britain’s Got Talent, or its US counterpart.

“I would also love to be considered to be a judge somewhere on one of Simon’s shows,” he said.

“I would like to be a judge on either Britain’s Got Talent or America’s Got Talent because there is so much variety.”

Although Simon’s decisions still cause controversy among viewers, Vinnie reckons he’s “gone soft” in recent years.

The ‘Snatch’ actor suggests he’d be more straight with contestants, similarly to Got Talent stars Piers Morgan and Mel B.

“This is the main thing, Piers Morgan did a great job because he told it how it was,” he added.

“Simon used to but he’s gone soft in his old age. And Mel B… she’d say it how it was on America’s Got Talent. She’s gone from that show now, too.

“The Vinster is waiting. The Vinster is there for either show.”

BGT may be a tough nut to crack for Vinnie, as it still has one of the most popular panels on television.

Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are highly likely to return for their ninth series together next year.

Meanwhile, Alesha has also bagged herself a spot on AGT’s next Champions season in a major promotion.

The Vinster will be back on stage when The X Factor Celebrity continues on ITV this Saturday at 8.30pm.
