The reality sensation is one of the first celebrity contestants on the new run of 13 episodes.

She’s joined by team mates, her on/off boyfriend and fellow reality star James ‘Arg’ Argent, TV personality Carol Vorderman, stand up comic Ellie Taylor, and TV presenter Rick Edwards.

In one challenge, Gemma takes part in a virtual obstacle course.

She enters a completely white room as her team watch on outside via screens.

Only they can see the virtual obstacles and must guide her around them in order to retrieve the crystal and pass the challenge.

Although it starts off well, things quickly fall apart.

Gemma shouts at Rick as communication breaks down: “Tell me where and how big a step forward. You’re letting me down! This is not rocket science.”

She then fumes: “Tell the producer they’ve got to sort it out. No, hang on, stop the game.”

Referring to Gemma’s virtual identity, Maze Master Richard Ayoade quips: “It’s amazing, even in grid form you’ve got mugged off . . . I’m so frightened of Gemma.”

Despite the rows, Gemma manages to get the crystal and escape in time.

“That was so stressful,” reacts Ellie.

Describing the new Eastern Zone, Channel 4 teased: “Influenced by the historic art, architecture and monuments of East Asia, the zone will feature five games rooms for eight new games, set around a lily pond, cherry blossom trees and ornate vases.

“The new zone will join the Futuristic, Aztec and Industrial Zones, with all four featuring a host of challenging new puzzles in the forthcoming series.”
