This evening was the fourth X Factor results show following Saturday’s Movie themed performances.

Songs from hit films ranging from this year’s The Greatest Showman and A Star Is Born to classics like Titanic and Flashdance got The X Factor treatment before lines opened.

Sunday saw the results revealed as two more contestants made their exits from the competition.

And it was Misunderstood and Giovanni Spano who left The X Factor in tonight’s show.

In the results episode, the public vote was first frozen before host Dermot O’Leary announced the act with the fewest votes who was going home immediately.

With the fewest total votes from the public, it was duo Misunderstood who were eliminated in a surprise result.

Lines then re-opened for more voting of the remaining nine acts as Olly Murs and Michael Buble took to the stage.

Once lines closed for good, Dermot returned to reveal the next two acts with the fewest votes as Giovanni Spano and duo Acacia & Aaliyah.

They went head to head in the sing off. Acacia & Aaliyah performed K-Ci & JoJo’s All My Life while Giovanni sang Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You.

The judges then had to decide who to send home, with guest judge Nile Rodgers sitting in for an absent Robbie Williams. Nile and Ayda both stuck by their acts, sending home Gio and Acacia & Aaliyah respectively.

Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson both sent Gio home, leaving Acacia & Aaliyah to stay in the competition after a second week in the sing-off.

Now just eight acts remain in the contest.

Alongside Acacia & Aaliyah, they are Anthony Russell, Danny Tetley, Bella Penfold, Scarlett Lee, and Shan Ako.

Rounding off the current crop of contestants are Brendan Murray and Dalton Andre Harris.

The X Factor returns next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with Big Band week, featuring Cheryl and Tom Walker.
