Taking place tonight at London’s The Dorchester on Park Lane, The TVChoice Awards 2018 celebrated the best of the last twelve months in TV. And the glitzy ceremony saw some of Britain’s biggest celebrity names scoop the coveted trophies, as voted by the British viewing public.

It was the 22nd year of honouring TV’s best stars and shows with Pointless brainbox Richard Osman hosting for a second year.

For a number of TV favourites tonight meant another TVChoice award for the trophy cabinet – as Call The Midwife, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! added to their haul, along with This Morning, celebrating another victory as they prepare to celebrate the show’s 30th birthday next month.

Meanwhile there was a second trip to the winner’s podium for DIY SOS: The Big Build and C4’s Sunday Brunch. And while Benidorm has also tasted victory before, this year’s prize was especially sweet, as it was for the hit comedy’s tenth and final series.

There’s always a tough battle in the drama categories, and this year the BBC’s stylish gangland drama Peaky Blinders triumphed for the first time with its fourth series, landing the Best Drama prize and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy.

Michelle Keegan scooped the prize for Best Actress for her military drama Our Girl, while ITV’s Liar, took home Best New Drama award.
