Liam Payne explains his strange X Factor exit with Cheryl

One Direction star Liam Payne has explained his bizarre exit from The X Factor stage at the weekend.

The wannabe solo musician had been on the ITV series to plug his new song, Bedroom Floor.

But after his performance, Liam quickly darted across the stage to grab girlfriend Cheryl and made a quick exit.

Speaking at the Pride Of Britain Awards, he insisted that he was just following orders.

“Producers told me to go this way and it looked like I was going out the front, bossed off the stage and took my missus and buggered off,” Liam explained to the Daily Mirror. “But that’s what I got told to do and I got so much stick for it.”

He added: “It was hilarious, storming off the stage and taking my missus.”

Liam’s actions were criticised by viewers with one tweeting: “Bit unprofessional Liam, coming off the front of the stage during a live show to leave with your girlfriend #xfactor”

And his actual performance didn’t exactly get an overwhelming positive reaction either.

“Liam’s sons name is “Bear Payne” which is exactly what I’m going through listening to his performance #xfactor,” one viewer quipped.

Another even commented: “Liam Payne’s vocals are worse than any of the contestants tonight. #xfactor “
