The X Factor 2018 will see THREE new judges, it has been announced today.
Alongside Simon Cowell, they will make up a bumper panel that will see Sharon Osbourne act as a fifth judge for the live shows.
Both Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh have quit the series, ITV have also revealed.
Louis has been the longest running judge on The X Factor, appearing on all bar one series since the show began in 2004. He said: “I’ve had a fantastic 13 years on The X Factor but the show needs a change and I’m ready to leave.
“I’m looking forward to another series of Ireland’s Got Talent, going back to my day job as a manager, writing my memoirs and seeing the world!”
Sharon Osbourne added: “I can’t wait to get back to the judges’ desk. I love the new format.”
Show bosses have described the change as a ‘new era’ for the show, which will air its 15th series this year.
Amelia Brown, Managing Director at programme makers Thames, said: “This is the start of a new era for The X Factor. I am really excited about all the ideas we have for the coming series including, of course, the new judging panel.”
The identity of the three new judges has not yet been announced.
Rumours range from former The Voice UK coach Kylie Minogue to One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson.
Craig David and current BGT judge Alesha Dixon – who was a guest judge on X Factor last year – have also been tipped to take part.
Plus, it’s been suggested that former judges Rita Ora and Tulisa may well be back.
But Cheryl is NOT expected to return, instead reportedly working on Simon Cowell’s new dancing show The Greatest Dancer for BBC One.
Meanwhile, if you want to audition for The X Factor this year there is still time.
The age limit is 14 once again with auditions closing in July.
As always, solo singers, groups and duos can all audition and as long as you’re old enough there aren’t really any other restrictions.
So if you think you’ve got what it takes you can apply right this second on the ITV website HERE.
