The Boys is coming to Amazon Prime – here’s all you need to know about the new TV series.

Based on the American comic book series of the same name, by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys will be released July 2019 on Amazon Prime Video.

It’s set in a universe where superheroes have become corrupted by their celebrity status and often engage in reckless behaviour, compromising the safety of the world.

The Boys are a group of vigilantes who attempt to take down corrupt superheroes, often leading to confrontations that end with gruesome and dreadful results.

The Boys release date

The Boys will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 26, 2019 with eight episodes.

Before its release, Amazon Video has already renewed the series for a second season.

The Boys cast

The main cast of The Boys includes Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Jack Quaid as “Wee” Hughie Campbell, Karen Fukuhara as The Female and Tomer Kapon as Frenchie.

Joining them are Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight, Antony Starr as The Homelander, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie Usher as A-Train, Chace Crawford as The Deep and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir.

An official synopsis of the show reads: “THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.

“It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.”
