Take That’s The Band Musical is set to be turned into a film – potentially by the end of 2019.
Last year, new BBC One show Let It Shine fronted by Gary Barlow went on the hunt for five guys to play the lead roles in the new stage show.
After seven weeks of singing, it was boy band Five To Five who won Let It Shine in the final back in February of 2017.
The group – made up of Curtis T Johns, AJ Bentley, Yazdan Qafouri, Sario Solomon and Nick Carsberg – have since been starring in the stage show as it tours the UK.
Now a movie version is in the works.
“It’s definitely going to be made and could start shooting as early as next year,” Gary spilled this week. “We don’t know who will be the director as yet, but we’re working on a deal now. It’s really exciting but we appreciate there’s a few hurdles to overcome first.”
He joked: “Brad Pitt is playing me, obviously.”
Gary told The Sun he hoped the movie could prove a huge hit like Mamma Mia! or the Oscar winning La La Land.
Yesterday, it was confirmed The Band would be transferring to London’s West End for a limited run at the end of 2018.
The show will play 50 performances at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 1st December 2018 to 12th January 2019, with tickets on sale here.
In the show, Let It Shine’s winners play the role of band members in the musical, which is based on the songs of Take That – but not directly about the band itself.
Rather, the plot revolves around five girls, who are fans of the group with their roles cast away from TV screens.
The additional original cast included Rachel Lumberg, Faye Christall, Alison Fitzjohn, Emily Joyce, Jayne McKenna, and Rachelle Diedericks.
