Strictly Come Dancing pros have been reminded of the rules they must follow.
The line up of professionals on the BBC One series have reportedly been sent a memo, following Brendan Cole’s departure.
The Sun reports that an email sent out was to “remind dancers of their responsibilities” ahead of new contracts being given out.
As yet no pros have officially signed up for the 2018 series.
Strictly’s pros apparently must follow a number of rules, including getting approval for projects outside of the show.
“The cast saw the memo as a reminder they are being kept in check and that nobody is bigger than the show itself,” a source told the tabloid this week. “The tacit message was: ‘Do what you’re told, or else.’
“And with contracts for this year still to be finalised, they are taking that seriously.”
Brendan had been a pro dancer on the show for the past 14 years but announced his exit on ITV’s Lorraine last month.
The New Zealand born Brendan announced that the BBC had decided not to renew his contract.
“They’ve made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show,” he said. “I’m in shock. I got a phone call. I’ve had 15 incredible series.”
Brendan admitted: “I’m disappointed. I’ve always known this day would come. I’m a very strong character, some don’t like that.
“I’ve never been contracted for more than one year. I still wanted to be part of it. My passion is still very much there.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2018 will air on BBC One later this year.
