Latest Strictly Come Dancing 2017 results - who left?

The sixth celebrity has been voted off Strictly Come Dancing 2017 in a shock outcome in last night’s results.

This weekend Strictly Come Dancing’s celebrity dancers and their professional partners once again each took to the dancefloor with ten couples remaining.

As always, they were out to impress the viewers at home – as well as the line up of judges Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood in the studio.

Mollie King and Aston Merrygold had to dance again and it was favourite to win Aston who went home in a shocking result.

In last night’s Strictly Come Dancing results, the judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.

This weekend, that was popstar Aston Merrygold and his partner Janette Manrara; and singer Mollie King and her professional partner AJ Pritchard.

Both couples performed their routines again; Mollie and AJ did their Foxtrot to Call Me Irresponsible by Connie Francis and Aston and Janette performed their Viennese Waltz to Who’s Loving You by Jackson 5 in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts and it was a split decision.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Mollie and AJ: “Both couples improved on the night which was wonderful to see but based purely on technique for me, the better dance of the evening goes to Mollie and AJ.”

Darcey Bussell chose to save Aston and Janette: “I so wish I didn’t have to choose between these two wonderful couples I so enjoyed their performances and both of them improved their game. The couple I’d like to save based on a more assured performance is Aston and Janette.”

Bruno chose to save Aston and Janette: “I want you both to stay! If it was up to me I would keep you both because you’re both wonderful, both much improved, you all seem to have ironed out a lot of little problems you had on Saturday night but one couple really, I felt transformed their performance tonight and it had much more power, much more impact, it flowed more and for that reason I would like to save Aston and Janette.”

Head Judge Shirley Ballas had the final and casting vote and chose to save Mollie and AJ.

She said: “Well again a very difficult choice, two fantastic couples and it’s very difficult to do. On technical accuracy, beautiful flow and full engagement during the dance, I’m saving Mollie and AJ.”

Therefore, Aston was sent home in a truly shock result having been the joint favourite to win before Saturday alongside Alexandra Burke.

The remaining nine couples will take to the dancefloor again next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on BBC One on Saturday evening.
