Still Open All Hours returning to BBC One in 2018 with fifth series

Still Open All Hours will be back in 2018 for a fifth series.

BBC One has confirmed the show will return later this year, once again featuring the ongoings at convenience store Arkwright’s.

Still Open All Hours started in 2013 following the original series of Open All Hours which aired in four series between 1973 to 1985.

On the new series, Sir David Jason commented of reprising his much loved character Granville: “I’m thrilled to be bringing Granville and Arkwright’s shop back to viewers’ TV screens along with his regular customers who bring their own sense of barminess to the world of grocery.”

Filming will take place this summer.

The new series opens with Granville trying to offload a large quantity of bargain spectacles while Mr. Newbold finally decides to tell Mrs. Featherstone how he really feels about their relationship.

For series five, Sir David will be joined by series regulars: James Baxter, Stephanie Cole, Maggie Ollerenshaw, Brigit Forsyth, Tim Healy, Johnny Vegas, Kulvinder Ghir, Sally Lindsay, Geoffrey Whitehead and Katie Redford.

BBC Commissioning Editor, Gregor Sharp, said: “We’re delighted to see Granville flip over the sign on Arkwright’s and open up for another series of Still Open All Hours – it’s enduring popularity is a testament to the brilliance of Roy Clarke’s scripts and the impeccable performances of a cast of comic legends at the height of their powers.”

Executive Producer, Gareth Edwards, added: “With a cast of national comic treasures and a great new set of scripts it’s a pleasure to be paying another visit to Britain’s daftest corner shop.”
