Robbie Williams has suggested he could return to The X Factor in future.
It follows Robbie and wife Ayda Williams announcing they had quit The X Factor at the start of this year.
The husband and wife pair revealed they were stepping down from the series after one year.
They blamed their busy schedules in a post on social media, writing on Instagram: “We’re gutted to tell you we won’t be able to return to The X Factor this year.
“We will be working on projects with Simon going forward – and as huge fans of the show, we will still be tuning into The X Factor, voting and winding Simon up!”
However Robbie says they may well be back in the future.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Robbie said his time on The X Factor was “to be continued”.
He explained: “We wanted it desperately to work with The X Factor but it couldn’t. It is to be continued because Simon and I are good friends, our family are friends and our kids hang out all of the time.
“It is a pause on the relationship and then it will carry on. This year I have to promo my album.”
Robbie added: “We wanted to do it but we couldn’t make it work. Like I said it is just a pause. I miss Simon, he is incredibly charismatic and incredibly charming and I have learned an awful lot from him.”
Robbie made the comments as it was revealed that he had become the new co-owner of performing arts academy LMA after mentoring a choir from the college on last year’s X Factor.
He said: “With all of my acts you don’t realise how deeply entrenched you become in each others lives and this is a natural progression for that.
“I hope I can help motivate the next generation of pop stars, performers and creatives.”
Meanwhile, with Robbie and Adya ruled out of this year’s X Factor, it’s been rumoured that Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger could return to the panel.
The X Factor airs on ITV.
The series typically launches in September.
