Caroline hosts the ITV2 series, which is back for its fourth series on Monday night.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Caroline has said she’d have taken part in the show herself were she single – and younger.

The currently engaged TV host said: “One hundred per cent I would have done it. When I was 20 or 21, if I was single.

“It’s proven that if you spend eight weeks in a villa with someone, you can fall in love with them. If you can get love out of it, then why not?”

However Caroline told The Sun newspaper that she would have never had sex on TV in the villa.

The telly presenter explained: “I don’t know if I could have gone the whole distance in there.

“I don’t know if that’s something I’d want my mum and dad to see, to be honest.

“I’m in no way judgmental about it. You know me, I’m personally self-conscious at the best of times. I couldn’t do it for my parents’ sake. Or my own!”

Meanwhile Caroline has confessed to being a “terrible” matchmaker in real life.

She said: “I never get it right when I first see the islanders. I thought Harley would win and he went out first last year. I’ve never been a good matchmaker. I don’t think I’ve set anyone up.”
