Tonight Strictly hit Week 9 of the competition and for one week only, the show packed its sparkly suitcases and relocated to Blackpool.

The main show kicked off with a grand group performance fit to fill the massive Tower ballroom.

The stakes were high and the celebrities were feeling the pressure with the Glitter Ball trophy in sight and the Grand Final now only a month away.

Once again deciding who was on top form this evening were judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, who scored the seven remaining celebrity couples.

Top spot of this week’s scoreboard was shared by Kelvin Fletcher and Karim Zeroual, who both scored a near perfect 39 points. Kelvin’s Jive left Shirley speechless and Motsi described it as “out of this world” while Craig said Karim’s Charleston was “absolutely brilliant” – but still didn’t give it a 10.

Chris Ramsey’s Salsa won a rave review from Shirley, seeing the comedian score 33 points after being bottom of last week’s leaderboard.

Emma Barton’s American Smooth was branded her “best dance yet”, scoring a personal best score of 37 points including her first tens.

Alex Scott’s “powerful and theatrical” Paso Doble also saw her receive her highest marks yet, scoring 34 points from the judges.

Last week’s scoreboard leader Saffron Barker performed a Jazz themed Quickstep. The routine was branded “brilliant” by Bruno despite a few missteps, scoring 35 points.

Hoping to bounce back from being in the dance off last week, where it was Mike Bushell who left Strictly Come Dancing, Michelle Visage danced a Couples’ Choice Street/Commercial routine to Madonna’s iconic song Vogue.

Scoring 32 points, Michelle’s performance was described as a “spectacle of armography” by Shirley, but in a super competitive week it left the Drag Race UK star bottom of the leaderboard.

As always, the judges’ scores will be combined with the viewer vote to determine the overall scoreboard for the weekend.

The two celebrity couples in the bottom two of the overall rankings will find themselves having to dance again in tomorrow night’s (Sunday) latest results show.
