Britain’s Got Talent cleared by Ofcom over Amanda Holden’s ‘F-bomb’

Britain’s Got Talent has been cleared by TV watchdog Ofcom after Amanda Holden dropped the F-bomb during the live shows.

The ITV talent contest sparked controversy during its live finals in May.

Among the contestants was spooky magic act The Haunting, who picked up from their audition by reuniting Amanda with the spectre of Agatha.

Amanda was clearly on edge after the frightening experience, resulting in a live television disaster.

When frontwoman Elizabeth grabbed Amanda and spun her around on stage, the terrified judge reacted by screaming: “F**k!”

The outburst resulted in a number of complaints to Ofcom but the TV regulator has cleared the show.

They said in a statement about their decision (via BBC News): “We took into account that this was a live broadcast of an emotive performance involving Amanda Holden, which triggered her spontaneous reaction.

“We also took into account that the judges, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, and the presenter, Ant McPartlin, gave a full apology on-air straight after the incident. In light of the above, Ofcom’s view is that this matter is resolved.”

During the live show, presenters Ant and Dec, BGT boss Simon Cowell and Amanda herself all said sorry for the unexpected F-bomb.

“We’d like to apologise if you heard any bad language there from Amanda. She was very, very scared, as you can see,” commented Ant.

“I just really want to apologise if I said anything… I said a really terrible word,” Amanda continued. “There’s kids watching, so massive apologies.”

“I know we’re gonna get in trouble over this, apologies for the swearing,” added Simon.

Britain’s Got Talent will be back on TV later this year with a brand new all stars Champions series.

It will see acts from the past 13 years of BGT return to compete against one another to be crowned the ultimate champion.

Amanda, Simon, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon will make up the panel with Ant and Dec hosting as usual.
