Love Island bosses are out to make this year’s series different from last summer.

Season 4 of Love Island is on its way, with a confirmed start date for the first week of June.

The upcoming series follows last year’s massively successful run, which ended with ITV2’s highest ever viewing figures when 3 million tuned in.

But show chief say they’re keen not to just offer up the same thing year after year to viewers.

Producers Tim Gould and Angela Jain appeared at the Royal Television Society this week to talk about the new series.

They revealed how as well as inviting applications, they had scouted singletons via the likes of dating apps including Tinder.

Jain said: “We don’t want to cast the same characters every time, we aren’t looking for the next Camilla or the next Montana, that’s the opposite of what we’re looking for.”

The pair also issued a warning to the contestants wanting to take part in what may seem like an easy way to spend the summer.

“If we’re going to pick a winning couple to win £50,000 at the end, we tell the couples at the beginning that they will be tested, we look for the different ways to pick out the fault lines in the relationship and test them,” Gould explained (via the Daily Mirror).

Also appearing at the event was Love Island host Caroline Flack, who returns to the show for her fourth year alongside narrator Iain Stirling.

“To host something you’d actually watch, that’s the dream. You want to be a viewer too. It was a show I’d loved beforehand,” she told the panel.

Love Island 2018 will start on Monday, June 4 on ITV2.

The launch episode will air for over 90 minutes between 9PM and 10:35PM.

As in past years, the show will then continue each night at 9PM on ITV2.
