Britain’s Got Talent’s bizarre Ofcom complaints revealed

Britain’s Got Talent has received a number of Ofcom complaints after its first episodes.

However they’re all very strange.

One viewer made an official objection to the TV Watchdog simply because Ant McPartlin was on screen.

Ant is seen alongside co-host Dec in the pre-recorded auditions, which were filmed in January.

He’s since stepped down from TV commitments to seek treatment in rehab, after last week pleading guilty to drink driving.

ITV previously confirmed that Ant would not host the live shows, leaving Dec to go it alone later in the year.

“We send Ant all our love. And we know that Dec will do a brilliant job,” the channel said.

Meanwhile, other Ofcom complaints have included objections over Simon Cowell’s use of the word ‘bloody’.

The Daily Mirror reports that a further complaint was received because of David Walliams’ supposedly ‘sexually suggestive’ behaviour.

Despite the few complaints, the new series of Britain’s Got Talent launched to more than 10 million viewers.

An average audience of 10.6 million tuned in for the first episode, official consolidated figures reveal. They include those who watched on the night plus those who caught up in the seven days after airing.

BGT was the most watched show of the week with 2 million more viewers than its closest rival, Coronation Street. It is also the first show of the year to pass 10 million viewers.

The series continues this Saturday night on ITV with the third round of auditions.

The live shows will air later in the year, typically beginning the last week in May.

This year the live shows will air live from the Hammersmith Apollo theatre in London.
