Michelle Keegan will return for a new series of Our Girl, it’s been reported.
The latest run of the BBC One show concluded earlier this week.
To date, three series have aired and now a fourth is said to be in the works.
The Sun reports that Michelle Keegan will return in the lead role of Corporal Georgie Lane. It’ll be her third series after Lacey Turner appeared as Private Molly Dawes in the original series in 2014.
Filming for the fourth series will begin in January for around two months.
“Producers think that Michelle has been really good for the show, after taking over from Lacey Turner, and were keen to write her into a further series after developing her character,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “They have some meaty storylines lined up involving both action and romance.”
Michelle recently admitted that spending months away from home filming was tough.
“I get homesick and I miss my family,” said the ex-Corrie star, who is married to TV presenter Mark Wright. “Luckily we get FaceTime now, so that helps massively.
“But when I go through experiences in my life, even when I was doing Our Girl, I was thinking the whole time, ‘I wish I could show my mum and dad where I am.’ ”
A spokesperson for the BBC said: “Our Girl has performed consistently well over the summer and is still being watched by a big audience on BBC iPlayer.
“We are in discussions about future Our Girl series.”
