One Born Every Minute has reportedly been dropped by Channel 4 after eleven series.
The fly-on-the-wall documentary has aired over 100 episodes since first premiering in 2010.
One Born Every Minute followed the activities in labour wards across UK hospitals.
Filming from the reception desk to the neo-natal ward; from the operating theatre to the birthing pool, the life-affirming and tender series captures the beginning of life as it really happens.
With around 40, fixed rig remotely operated cameras, One Born Every Minute observes in candid detail the dramatic, emotional and often funny moments that go hand in hand with bringing a new life into the world, from the perspective of the soon-to-be parents and family, as well as the hospital staff.
The Sun reports that Channel 4 have dropped the series, at least for the time being.
Ratings for the latest run reportedly dipped to a low of 600,000 viewers.
“Producers decided One Born Every Minute will not be returning this year,” a source claimed. “It used to be one of Channel 4’s most popular formats but it seems as if it’s had its day, as viewers have slowly had enough of watching women give birth.”
The insider suggested that TV bosses wanted to work on “newer formats for younger audiences.”
However there is good news for fans of the show.
All 112 episodes are currently available to watch online for free via All4.
You can also catchup on spin-off shows including I Was Born on One Born, which follows some of the children who were born n the show, and One Born at Christmas, which was filmed in Christmas 2010 at the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton.
