Miranda Hart is to host a new BBC One entertainment show, Miranda’s Games with Showbiz Names.

A one-off special will air this festive period.

The show will see three celebrity couples join Miranda from the comfort of their own homes to compete in a series of riotous Christmas games.

“An expert in the art of homemade mischief, Miranda will lead the celebrity players through a host of outrageous challenges, bringing out their silly sides and competitive spirit for a Christmas games night like no other,” the BBC tease.

Celebrities appearing in the special are are Strictly Come Dancing’s Head Judge Shirley Ballas and her partner Danny Taylor, football pundit and presenter Jermaine Jenas and his wife Ellie, along with singer-songwriter and entertainer Robbie Williams and his drummer Karl Brazil.

Viewers can also expect another mystery celebrity special guest who will be joining in on the fun and mayhem.

Miranda Hart said: “What I love about the joyfully camp title is that is tells you exactly what to expect! I shall be playing very silly games with some famous faces, who you’ll see in a new light from their own home, and are fully on board for the mayhem that I promise shall ensue.

“It’s a format that was created for the current climate and I hope it provides some unique larks for whatever level of lockdown people are in.”

She added: “It’ll be different to any other entertainment show as we aren’t in a studio, and there won’t be an audience.

“Although I love working off and with an audience, this is a fantastic new format I’m very excited about.

“[Viewers] can expect lovely, friendly, famous faces making complete idiots of themselves for their enjoyment! I really, really hope that anyone struggling at this time is brought cheer from it. That’s why we’re doing it.”

Miranda’s Games With Showbiz Names will air at 9:45PM on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December.
