Midsomer Murders is back for 2024 with brand new episodes starting this summer.
The hit crime drama will return from Tuesday, 16 July at 8:15PM on ITV1 and ITVX with the second episode of Series 23, titled The Debt of Lies.
After celebrating at a retirement party for former police officers, Elaine Bennet meets a tragic end in a car crash.
Fleur tells Barnaby that Elaine’s car had been tampered with and that she had a heated argument with Giles Franklyn in the car park the previous night.
Challis Court, a tight-knit community for retired officers, faces a shocking break-in, with crucial evidence stolen and destroyed.
Adding to the mystery, Damian Bennet is discovered murdered. Uncovering a well-guarded secret might be the key for Barnaby and Winter to solve the case.
Neil Dudgeon returns to play DCI John Barnaby, Nick Hendrix is back as DS Jamie Winter and Annette Badland resumes her role as pathologist Dr Fleur Perkins with Fiona Dolman as Sarah Barnaby.
Guest starring in the upcoming episode are Gary Beadle as Damian Bennet, Tom Conti as Sebastian Cabot, Geff Francis as Billy Bevan, Sabina Franklyn as Elaine Bennet, Mariam Haque as Jenny Bennet, Lorne MacFadyen as Lionel Bennet, Elizabeth Payne as Ruth Cabot, Peter Polycarpou as Giles Franklyn, Jules Robertson as Charlie Cabot, Alex Walkinshaw as Sam Engells, and Diana Yekinni as Matty Bennet.
It’s the second episode of Series 23 which was filmed in 2022.
