Megan McKenna to sing another original song on Celebrity X Factor live shows

Megan McKenna has revealed she will be singing another original song on Celebrity X Factor’s first live show.

The X Factor: Celebrity brings together stars from the worlds of music, film, sport, television and social media as they compete to win a life-changing recording contract.

After two weeks of auditions, 13 acts have made it through to the live stages in London starting on Saturday.

The theme for the opening weekend is ‘Express Yourself’ with Megan planning to sing an original song.

She told ITV’s Lorraine: “I am going to be singing another original song.

“Writing for me, putting my story down on paper and being able to perform it and express myself through music is where the real love is.

“I am so excited. I have been writing songs about my story.

“The song I am performing is about my dream in general, all the knockbacks I’ve had, the 100 ‘nos’ I had. It’s just all that put into one song.”

Megan had previously impressed judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh with one of her own songs at her audition in LA.

“This is everything I’ve always wanted,” Megan said of making it through. “I cried watching my audition back.”

However Megan has faced criticism for taking part when she’s already released an album.

Speaking ahead of her first live show performance, Megan played down her past singing experience.

She told the Radio Times magazine: “Obviously I sing, and I’ve been recording in the past but it’s never been on the scale of what this could be. This is for a major record label.”

Megan explained: “I’m just the same as everybody else. This is my dream and I’m just hoping that this show can just be the start really as I want to do this full-time.”

Hosted by Dermot O’Leary, The X Factor live shows begin on Saturday night at 8:20PM on ITV.

Each week the celebrities will sing live before viewers vote for their favourite.

You can vote for your favourite via The X Factor app and watch episodes online and catch up via the ITV Hub.
