TV presenter Matt Johnson has put himself forward for Strictly Come Dancing because of the show’s curse.
While Strictly’s supposed relationship curse may have put some celebs off, single Matt reckons it could be a blessing.
The Welsh telly host said this week: “I’m thinking of doing Strictly Come Dancing for the curse. Some of those dancers are well nice. It’d be great!”
However his crush on Strictly judge Darcey Bussell may well stop him from getting close to the dance floor.
Matt joked to Closer magazine: “But I don’t think I can do it because of my restraining order on Darcey.”
Strictly Come Dancing’s 2018 series still has a while to go before launching but already a number of celebs have been linked to the series.
Names Strictly Come Dancing bosses could sign include X Factor star turned TV host Rylan Clark-Neal, football pundit Chris Kamara and Radio DJ Maya Jama.
Further rumoured celebs include soap stars Chelsea Halfpenny and Hayley Tamaddon plus breakfast TV presenters Piers Morgan and Dan Walker, who front ITV’s Good Morning Britain and BBC’s Breakfast respectively.
2015 Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein Hollyoaks star turned Oscar winner Rachel Shenton and The Chase’s Mark Labbett have also been tipped to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, alongside former England footballer David James and Actress Michelle Keegan.
However sources say the show’s ‘curse’ has put other names off.
“Strictly used to be show that no celebrity ever turned down. But the curse has changed all that,” an insider claimed previously.
They added: “There is now a genuine concern that appearing on the show can negatively impact relationships.”
Strictly Come Dancing will begin on BBC One in the autumn.
The line up is typically confirmed around August/September
