Love Island’s millionaires revealed: How former contestants have cashed in

A trio of Love Island’s 2017 stars have reportedly become millionaires over the past 12 months.

The prize for being the last remaining couple in the ITV2 series is £50,000, split between the winners.

It’s nothing compared to the money that can be made by the contestants leaving the villa.

From modelling deals to sponsored posts on social media, TV gigs to product endorsements, some former Islanders have already become millionaires.

While Love Island 2017 winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies didn’t last the distance, both have reportedly made over £1 million each.

The couple called it a day at the end of 2017 just months after the show.

“With sadness, we’ve decided to separate,” they said in a statement at the time. “We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.

“Our schedules made it difficult. We’ll remain good friends.”

But the Daily Mail reports that Amber has still made £1 million since the show while ex Kem has cashed in with £1.2 million.

Runner up Chris Hughes is also said to be part of the millionaires club.

Reports out this week have claimed that Love Island contestants can pick up £1000s just for posting to Instagram.

Last year’s contestants enjoyed continued popularity after leaving the infamous villa, with the likes of Chris Hughes, Kem Cetinay, and Amber Davies accruing millions of social media followers over the past 12 months.

The former Love Island contestants have capitalised on their new-found fame through sponsored posts, as brands everywhere line up to use the much-loved Love Islanders as a way to get their products in front of millions.

OddsMonkey have analysed Love Island’s 2017 contestants’ Instagram followers to calculate how much each of the ten most followed contestants are earning through sponsored ads on social.

Winner Kem has done a series of sponsored ads, partnering with well-known brands such as First Choice Holidays, and earning a staggering £8,600 for one post thanks to his large army of social media followers.

Joint winner, Amber Davies, may not have as many followers as her ex Kem Cetinay, but with 1.6 million followers on Instagram, Amber has the potential to earn around £6,880 for just one promotional post.

Chris Hughes also has a huge earning potential through social media promotion; his 1.9 million followers could see him earning £8,170 per post.

Similarly, Olivia Atwood’s 1.5 million followers can see her rake in £6,450 for every promotional Instagram post.
