Louis Tomlinson marks eight years since X Factor audition with touching tribute

Louis Tomlinson has marked eight years since his first X Factor audition.

The One Direction star performed for the panel in 2010, starting the show as a soloist.

He ended up being put in a group alongside Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles.

The five piece made the final of the series and went on to become one of the world’s biggest acts – although they’re currently on an ongoing hiatus.

Louis took to Twitter yesterday to look back on his first appearance on the show, paying tribute to his late mum.

Louis, who lost his mum to leukaemia in 2016, wrote: “8 years today I went for my first audition on the X factor.

“Thanks you to my beautiful mum for talking me into going! Thank you to each and every person who’s ever supported !”

The singer also shared a picture of himself waiting to sing, captioning the snap on Instagram: “8 years ago today.

“The skinny tie and shirt combo was a must back then.”

Since One Direction went on hiatus, Louis has been working on a debut solo album.

His first two singles – Just Hold On and Back To You – both went into the Top 10.

Discussing songs for his album last year, Louis told the BBC News website: “My whole mission with this album is to not write these Hollywood-esque songs that talk about some unfathomable crazy love story. I’m so bored of that.

“Because I’m from up north, I grew up loving the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Oasis. And the way they tell stories is such an effortless thing.

“It’s real, it’s honest and it’s to the point, you know?

“Now, any of the Arctic Monkeys would be devastated to hear me talking like this, but there is a way of incorporating that conversational honesty into pop.”
