Little Mix fight back against body-shaming in the best way

Little Mix have taken a stand against body-shaming.

The X Factor winners celebrated female empowerment earlier this month at the Global Music Awards.

The girls picked up gongs for Best Group, Best British Artist and Best Song.

And in accepting the awards, Jade Thirlwall has some powerful words.

“As a girl band, and as women, we do face a lot of scrutiny all the time. Whether it’s for the way we look, how much thigh we get out, how we dance, what we sing about,” she said.

Jade went on: “And we just want to say that although one day we hope that does stop, right now, we’re really not a***d what people think.

“We will dress how we want to dress. If we want to twerk, we’ll do a twerk.”

“We will always encourage our fans, especially our female fans, to be themselves and do what they want to do with our music,” Jade added.

Jesy Nelson then went on to prove that point by twerking down the blue carpet as the group posed with their trophies.

Meanwhile, this week Little Mix announced a new summer tour alongside most recent X Factor winners Rak-Su.

2017 X Factor champs Rak-Su will support 2011’s title holders Little Mix on a new tour later this year.

The Little Mix Summer Hits Tour begins in Hove on 6 July 2018 and will visit outdoor venues across the UK through to 29 July.

The Summer Hits Tour 2018 will see the girls playing their biggest tracks such as Touch, Shout Out To My Ex, Black Magic and Wings.

After opening in Hove, Little Mix’s tour will move to Swansea in Wales and then onto dates in England at Colchester, Northampton, Hull, Bolton, Huddersfield, Derby, Lincoln, Norwich, Maidstone and Gateshead. The final leg will see the group play dates in Scotland at Falkirk, Aberdeen and Inverness.

It’s Little Mix’s latest tour, fresh from their The Glory Days Tour which concluded last November after reportedly making more than £30 million and selling over 800,000 tickets.
