Little Mix break chart record with their latest album

X Factor winners Little Mix have set a new chart record, it’s been revealed.

Little Mix – made up of Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards – triumphed on The X Factor seven years ago now.

They released their fifth studio album LM5 back in November and it made its debut at Number 3 in the charts.

In doing so, they’ve become the first girl group ever to score five Top 5 studio albums in the UK, the Official Charts Company has announced.

It’s a feat not matched by the likes of Spice Girls or Girls Aloud, and comes as their previous album Glory Days has now sold over a million copies.

The release of LM5 came with news that the girls would be parting ways from Simon Cowell’s Syco label.

It was revealed earlier this year that former X Factor winners Little Mix would no longer be working with Simon’s company after a behind the scenes disagreement between the label and group’s management.

“We’re ready for a new start. Change, especially in the creative industry is always good,” said Perrie of moving to new label RCA Records.

Leigh-Anne added: “We were with Syco for seven years and had an incredible journey but it’s going to be nice to change it up and get a new view on us.

“A change and a fresh start is a good thing, we’re excited.”

Speaking about the change, Simon insisted there was no ‘falling out’ between himself and the girls.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Little Mix will be performing a track from their new album live on the BRITs pre-awards show next month (January).

Airing on 12 January at 5pm on ITV, Clara Amfo will host ‘The BRITs Are Coming’ – a one hour TV special which will exclusively reveal the much anticipated nominations for The BRIT Awards 2019.

Alongside the shortlist reveal and a performance from Little Mix, the show will also feature exclusive performances by George Ezra, Jess Glynne, Not3s & Mabel, and the winner of the 2019 Critics’ Choice award Sam Fender, who will be presented with his award on the show.
