Len Goodman’s Partners In Rhyme removed from schedules after poor ratings

Len Goodman’s Partners In Rhyme has been dropped from BBC One’s schedules, it’s been revealed.

Former Strictly judge Len hosts the the new series, which was airing on Saturday nights.

However it’s now set to be removed – at least for the time being – to make way for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

But the BBC said the last of six episodes in the first series will still air at a later date.

“The final episode of this run of Partners In Rhyme has been moved in the schedules, as the BBC begins to accommodate the return of Strictly Come Dancing,” the BBC told The Sun newspaper.

They quipped: “Have no fear, more of Len’s rhymes are near, he’ll be back on your telly before the end of the year.”

The new show was described as a “fun, play-along family show all about rhyming.”

Partners In Rhyme sees a pair of contestants joined by four celebrities hoping to help solve a range of rhyming rounds.

Games include Rhymewatch where the teams attempt to identify all the rhyming pairs within a short film starring a special guest.

There’s also News At Len, where the teams must guess the rhyming headline in four fictional news stories.

The contestant with the most points goes trough to play Rhyme Against Time, where they must solve six 3-part rhymes against the clock in order to win a holiday.

The opening episode was watched by 2.4 million viewers and reaction was overwhelmingly negative. Viewing figures dropped to 1.9 million for the second episode before falling even further to 1.2 million earlier this month.

“Cant believe such a dreadful programme actually made it to the tv. Lets hope it gets scrapped. Preferably before next week. #PartnersInRhyme” one viewer tweeted of the first instalment.

Another posted: “What the Hell have I just witnessed on BBC1? What an absolute festering tv turd. Whoever commissioned #PartnersInRhyme should be sacked.”
