Jamie Laing reveals his tears after Strictly exit – will he be back next year?

Jamie Laing has revealed how he cried after being forced out of Strictly Come Dancing this year.

Made In Chelsea’s Jamie had to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing following the launch show due to injury.

He had to quit after hurting his foot ahead of the first live show later this month.

Jamie said today: “It was a real shame. that show is so exciting and fun and intimidating so you just want to do your best.

Recalling suffering his injury, Jamie told ITV’s This Morning: “The training was all good, I thought I was Billy Elliot. But it came to the day and it started to hurt. During the performance I slid towards the wonderful Oti, and as I popped up it felt like someone had hit me with a belt on the back of my foot.

“It was like a stepped on glass but being British you just smile and go through the entire thing.

“Everyone [the specialists] said it’s not going to be alright, it’s eight week in a boot.”

Jamie admitted: “I cried! I just wanted to be Madonna! When you’re in a show like that, you become friends with everyone, it’s pretty upsetting.

“I was saying to everyone it’s a dance show why am I getting so upset.”

As for whether or not Jamie will return next year, he said: “I don’t know. [The injury is] not a long standing thing, it’s more that it’s one of those shows that everyone wants to do.

“Everyone wants to be a part of it, and my time was then and my journey didn’t go to plan.”

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby suggested that instead of Strictly, Jamie could try his luck on I’m A Celebrity or Dancing On Ice.

Jamie joked: “Let me do all of them, I will just go from one to the next.”

It’s since been confirmed that Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has been parachuted in to take Jamie’s place.

Kelvin is an actor, best known for playing Andy Sugden on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale from 1996 to 2016.

Kelvin will dance with pro performer Oti Mabuse who had been partnered with Jamie in Saturday’s pre-recorded launch episode.

Strictly Come Dancing will be back on TV on Saturday, September 21 on BBC One with its first live show.
