ITV could extend This Morning to replace Jeremy Kyle

An extended This Morning could be set to replace Jeremy Kyle on ITV.

Jeremy Kyle was axed by ITV in May after more than 3,000 episodes following the death of a guest shortly after filming.

In a statement at the time, ITV said it was “the right time for the show to end”.

Since then repeats have aired in its early morning daytime slot while the channel works on possible replacements.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the gap in the schedule may be filled by an extended This Morning straight after Lorraine.

A proposal seen by the tabloid reveals: “The show would have more interaction between the end of each show and a smoother handover between presenters into the next show.

“Eg. Lorraine may chat with Phil and Holly to hand over each day.”

ITV however have insisted that no decisions had been made with bosses “looking at different ideas” for the future daytime schedule.

This Morning is currently hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who are back from their summer break this week.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes fronted the show over the summer holidays together with a number of guest hosts including Davina McCall and Rochelle Humes.

This Morning has been airing on ITV since 1988, with almost 7,000 episodes to date.

You can currently watch from 10:30AM Monday to Fridays with episodes available to watch on catch up via ITV Hub
