Girls Aloud celebrate fifteenth anniversary as Nadine Coyle and Cheryl talk reunion

Girls Aloud have celebrated their fifteenth anniversary of forming today.

The five piece were one of reality telly’s first big successes after being put together on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

Managed then by now X Factor judge Louis Walsh, the group went to Christmas Number 1 that year with their debut hit Sound Of The Underground.

More than a decade of hits followed before the group finally called it a day in 2013.

Taking to Instagram today, Cheryl posted: “Crazy how time flies… ? 15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on. We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments ?? to put the cherry ? on top..

“You blessed me ?? and I will never be able to thank you enough for the support, love and loyalty you brought to our group. I am so proud of what we achieved together. Love you all @lilcola @kimberleywalshofficial @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding.”

Nicola posted: “It is crazy to think that 15 years ago today we were getting ready for our last live show on TV before the public decided who they wanted to make up GIRLS ALOUD. All of our lives completely changed forever. No going back.

“I’m confident in saying that those early years of the band will always truly be the wildest ride of my life both personally and as a group and no one other than the 5 of us knows how it felt.”

Kimberley messaged: “Happy 15th Birthday girls @cherylofficial @lilcola @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding so proud of us and all we achieved!”

The anniversary posts follow Nadine Coyle and Cheryl saying they wantd a Girls Aloud reunion – despite their feuds.

“I would love a reunion, I really would – whether its in two years or 20 years,” Nadine told Closer magazine in October.

Meanwhile, speaking to the Daily Mirror, Cheryl said: “We had an amazing time when we were together. I watched a tour thing the other day online and it brought back lots of memories. I was feeling really nostalgic.”

Girls Aloud’s famous fights were once again in the spotlight earlier this year when Nadine spilled all about their split, claiming she had no say in the decision.

Nadine confirmed there had always been a divide in the band with herself and Sarah Harding on one side and Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts on the other.

She told The Sun newspaper: “It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.

“That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was.”
