Former X Factor host Caroline Flack opens up about about being axed

Caroline Flack has spoken out about her axe from The X Factor.

Former Xtra Factor presenter Caroline and co host Olly Murs replaced Dermot O’Leary on the series in 2015.

But the pair – along with judges Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw – all left the show after just one year.

Caroline admitted it was a “tough experience” but insisted she had no real problem with the decision.

The now Love Island presenter told The sun newspaper: “When I was auditioning for musicals after leaving college and didn’t get them, it felt as bad then as getting knocked back now. The feeling never changes just because a lot more people see it happen.

“But growing up means being able to cope with things and rationalise them. At the end of the day, it’s not serious. I’m not saving lives. There are much bigger things going on in the world, far more important jobs. I’m doing entertainment, and it’s a brilliant but silly job. That’s showbiz.”

Caroline, who is currently touring the UK with musical production Crazy For You, went on to thank The X Factor team.

She said: “Honestly, I’m so grateful to all of the production team and to Simon for the opportunities that changed my life. I can’t go back and moan about The X Factor because Xtra Factor was so brilliant.

“Some shows are perfect for you, some aren’t, and if you look back and be angry and bitter, you’re not going to enjoy the rest of your time.”

Following Caroline and Olly’s departure, Dermot came back to host the show while former judges Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh also returned.

The current series of The X Factor continues Saturday and Sunday nights on ITV.
