Dermot O’Leary reckons Olly Murs could become a judge on The X Factor.
Olly was a finalist on the show in 2009, finishing behind Joe McElderry in the final that year.
He went on to replace Dermot as host in 2015 before becoming a coach on The Voice UK in 2018.
But Dermot reckons Olly could come back to The X Factor once more in the future, this time as a judge.
“I do think in the future Olly will become a good panel member, he’s done a really good job on The Voice,” he said this week.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Dermot also responded to claims he had ‘confirmed’ Cheryl would be back on The X Factor this year.
“It was over-egged. I don’t know at all if Cheryl’s coming back,” Dermot said. “How she was on Judges’ Houses – I’d never seen her like that. It was a completely different Cheryl.
“She was her friendly self but with a star filter. Like Rita Ora, she has that star filter when she walks into a room.”
Discussing who could be on the panel for the 2018 series, Dermot continued: “It’s difficult because you can’t have five judges.
“As a host, I love Louis Walsh because he’ll always give you the crazy stuff. He and Sharon Osbourne are so unproduceable.”
Nicole Scherzinger this week said she was being left in the dark about the new series.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Nicole commented on returning to the panel for another year: “We’ll see what happens.”
She joked: “Simon is so f****** last minute we know in the same month that he announces it.”
The X Factor will return to ITV later in 2018.
