Dancing On Ice winner Jake Quickenden shares his tips for latest contestants

Reigning Dancing On Ice champion Jake Quickenden has shared his advice for the new contestants.

Dancing on Ice returns to ITV for a brand new series on Sunday, January 6.

It’s the second series to air after first being revived in 2018 following four years off screen.

Singer Jake Quickenden won the last season and has been giving his top tips for the next set of celebrity competitors.

He warned them: “Don’t have a day off. I used to forget how to skate if I had a day off.”

Jake told DigitalSpy: “Put in what you want to get out of it. I really enjoyed it so I put in most days. I tried to push myself. It’s a great line-up this year, I think it will be a great show.

“I’m just gutted I’ll have to hand over the crown at the end of it at to be honest. Proper gutted.”

The competing celebrities on the Dancing On Ice 2019 line up include reality sensation Gemma Collins, Coronation Street actress Jane Danson, Loose Women’s Saira Khan, X Factor favourite Saara Aaalto, Grease legend Didi Conn and Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton,

Joining them are dancer James Jordan, singer and presenter Brian McFadden, actor and comedian Richard Blackwood, cricketer Ryan Sidebottom, Love Island’s Wes Nelson and Neighbours star Mark Little.

Jake reckons Gemma will prove to be the biggest surprise of the cast.

He explained: “She can dance, we’ve seen she can do the splits on TOWIE.

“I think she will surprise people, I think it’s harsh people are expecting nothing from her. I’m expecting a lot from her, I think she’ll do really well. If she can skate, I think she will be able to do it.”

Alongside the celebs, skating legends Torvill and Dean return to head up the judging panel joined by Ashley Banjo and Jason Gardiner.

Holly and Phil will host the series, which launches on Sunday, January 6.
