Dancing On Ice’s new commentator has been replaced on the show after just the one episode.
ITV’s Racing Matt Chapman won’t be back on the series after his debut last Sunday.
He will be replaced by TALKSPORT host Sam Matterface.
Having originally run on ITV between 2006 and 2014, Dancing On Ice pairs famous faces alongside professional skaters, who each week perform in a bid to impress both the panel and the viewers at home.
Legendary skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for last weekend’s first live show of a totally new series.
Torvill and Dean both sat ona revamped ice panel alongside the formidable Jason Gardiner and choreographer extraordinare Ashley Banjo.
For the most part, viewers were happy with the revived show – but new commentator Matt Chapman didn’t win over many fans.
The Sun newspaper reports that Matt has now left the show due to a ‘schedule clash’.
A source told the publication: “Matt decided he couldn’t make his diary work as he thought.
“He’s a big character and a talented sports commentator but he had some mixed reviews in the first show, and he told ITV that perhaps it wasn’t for him after all.”
Matt told the tabloid: “I’ve decided to hang up my skates, leave the rink and return to the turf.
“I wish the show the best of luck for the rest of the run.”
Meanwhile, an insider added of newbie Sam: “There’s a certain art when it comes to radio commentary – so he’s more than qualified.
“He was the natural presenter and he’s got a face not just for radio.”
Original Dancing On Ice commentator Tony Gubba tragically passed away in 2013.
The former sports journalist had narrated Dancing On Ice since the first series back in 2006 but passed away from ill-health aged 69.
