There are romances happening behind the scenes of Dancing On Ice, according to judge Ashley Banjo.
The Diversity dancer has lifted the lid on how the show’s stars have been getting close to one another.
But he didn’t name any names, as he spilled the backstage gossip to the Daily Star newspaper.
“I can definitely see that there are romances happening,” Ashley said. “The way that some of them dance and the way they get close, it’s inevitable.
“I’m not going to say who, but yes, it’s happening.
“You can see which couples have a better connection and which ones don’t.”
“You see it all the time on shows like Dancing On Ice and Strictly,” Ashley continued. “There’s something about the way people connect when they dance. Dancing ties people together.
“It happens especially when you’re rehearsing week in, week out…you’re touching, you’re laughing.
“There’s something about the intimacy of it that just sparks romance. I met my wife through dancing.”
Ashley is a new judge for Dancing On Ice this year, joining Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Jason Gardiner on the revived series.
The performer, who rose to fame on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, said he was going to be honest and “relatively tough” on the celebs.
He explained: “I think in this show, I might come across tougher than I normally do because I am looking for the performance and the choreography. Yes sometimes it is good enough to get around the rink but I am judging a layer above that.
“I am looking at their strength and performance quality, which they can’t start worrying about until they have learnt to skate. I am looking forward to it.”
Dancing On Ice continues tonight at 6PM on ITV.
Nine celebrities remain in the competition and another will be sent home in this evening’s live show.
