Craig Revel Horwood defends Dev Griffin’s shock Strictly Come Dancing exit

Craig Revel Horwood has said Dev Griffin was the right person to leave Strictly Come Dancing last weekend.

Radio 1 DJ Dev and his pro partner Dianne Buswell made a shock exit in last Sunday night’s results show.

There’s been much outrage over the outcome of the bottom two dance off, but Strictly judge Craig thinks it was the right result.

He said this week: “Was Dev the right person to go on the night? Yes. Would he have been better in the future? Yes. Was he better in the past? Yes.

“He just got a dance he wasn’t particularly good at and he made a mistake.

“Dev was the worst dancer on the night but if he had done his other routines then he may have been successful going through.”

In an interview with the Daily Mirror at the Best Heroes Awards, Craig went on to defend the often blunt criticisms he gives to the celebs.

“I am going to help them in the end. I critique them to help people,” he explained. “If you listen to my comments they are quite sound and if they go away and listen to them then they might get better.”

Craig continued: “The problem is most people in the world can’t take criticism.

“You are always going to get people that can’t especially people that have never danced before.

“They have only ever been praised for their work and that’s why they are celebrities and they are famous because they can actually do something that they are good at.

“So when you are criticised it hurts more because you are not used to it.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2019’s live shows will be back tomorrow night (Saturday, October 19) from 6:40PM on BBC One.

This weekend, Bruno Tonioli will be replaced by guest judge, US actor Alfonso Ribeiro for a second year running.

The results show is on Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One as another celebrity is sent home and eleven make it through to the Halloween special.
