Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has been tipped to take part in The X Factor’s Celebrity series.
Lucy joined Corrie in 2015 as Bethany Platt and recently announced her planned departure.
Now Lucy is said to be in talks for a very different TV project.
According to The Sun newspaper, producers are keen to sign her up for the brand new Celebrity X Factor.
“There have been some initial chats between producers and Lucy’s team,” a source said. “She is top of their wish list, so understandably they are keen to sign her up.
“Lucy would be a brilliant addition to the line-up and is leaving Coronation Street next year.”
They added: “Discussions are ongoing and nothing is set in stone right now. The initial chats with her people happened a while back, but it’s looking like Lucy’s name could be in the mix.”
The news follows Lucy announcing she would be leaving her role on Corrie next year.
In a statement released in May, Lucy said: “After the most incredible 4 years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020.
“It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me. I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday.
“I’m so thankful to Iain [MacLeod, Coronation Street producer] and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”
Other names recently rumoured for this year’s X Factor series include The Chase star Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan and even a group of Love island stars.
Reports claim that former Islanders Zara McDermott, Eyal Booker, Wes Nelson and Samira Mighty are set to team up to sing in the competition.
More potential celebrity X Factor contestants could include reality sensation Gemma Collins, TV presenter Caroline Flack, TV personality Megan McKenna and actor John Barrowman.
Also linked to the show have been footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones, EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa and even BGT judge Amanda Holden.
According to other reports, the winner of Celebrity’s X Factor series is set to scoop a record deal – just like the regular version.
As yet however ITV have not confirmed about any X Factor details officially.
